Recent Love & Things I Recommend: Suspense

Recently I’ve noticed I’m really into…  Suspense.  I’m not sure how to explain this…  but the other day, I was at a party, and I slept over at my friend’s house, and we watched this movie with Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy in it.  At first, I just sat there, planning to go to sleep after the first five minutes, because this friend of mine has some random movies that not that many people have heard of, but seeing as it was Rachel McAdams, I didn’t stop her.

This film is called Red-Eye.

Just because I’m afraid I won’t do the movie justice, here’s a small Wikipedia summary of the movie:

Hotel manager Lisa Reisert (Rachel McAdams) fears flying, and following her grandmother's funeral in Dallas, Texas, she takes a night flight home to Miami, Florida. While in the check-in line, she meets the handsome and charming Jackson Rippner (Cillian Murphy). When the flight is delayed, they share a drink at the airport bar.

When boarding her plane, Lisa is pleasantly surprised that her seat is next to Rippner's. Shortly after the plane takes off, however, he reveals that he is a terrorist operative working for a group intending to assassinate the Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Charles Keefe  and his family. Lisa is instrumental to their plan because she is the acting manager at the Lux Atlantic Hotel where the Keefe family is staying. If she refuses to cooperate, Rippner will deploy a hitman to kill her father, Joe  at his home in Miami. Lisa is unable to warn anyone about the plot without jeopardizing her father's safety, and the longer she waits, the harder it will become to prevent the murders.

So, two of my friends and I were watching this movie, and it was such a good film, that we decided to watch another one, which was Don’t Say A Word with Michael Douglas and Brittany Murphy.  Surprisingly, I really loved that movie, as well, and we were on the edge of our seats, and jumping up and down, screaming “Are  you really this stupid?!  Obviously you don’t go down there!  Just give him what he wants!  No, don’t run!

story

What I think made me love these movies so much was the fact that it was like a cheap copy of a scary movie, if that makes sense—I really really really don’t like scary movies you see {yet I managed to see Paranormal Activity—we’ll save that story for later}, but I envy those people who can get through a scary movie and be excited and scared and… whatever.

So I liked the fact that I was excited and stuck in suspense with these, but they weren’t scarring me for life or going to keep me awake for the next two weeks.

I liked this idea of suspense so much, that I started to look into books.  While I was scouring Costco, I went to the book section and noticed this one book next to the Hunger Games series {which, darn you to heck, Costco, didn’t have the first one—so I still haven’t started the series} called I Am Number Four and it looked so good that I picked it up and skimmed it.  Then I remembered Lauren at Busy Bee Lauren review it and say it was pretty darn good, so I bought it {for ten bucks, too!  at Border’s, that would have been almost twenty-something bucks} and started reading it.  So far, it’s pretty darn amazing.

So, indeed.  Point made.  Suspense novels and movies are pretty spiffy.  I recommend.

Being Short.

...Maybe just a little peek.

I do not like it.

Well, most of the time, anyway.  My mom’s short, my best friend is short, Sabrina’s short.  But nobody I know is short.  I do not like this.  Do you know how annoying it is to not be on everyone else’s eye level when I’m speaking to them?  It’s *quite* annoying.

Well, What a Lousy Weekend.

There’s a first for everything, right?  Well.  I have gotten my first bad haircut.  At least I think so, Carmen and Sabrina keep on saying it looks “darling.”  See, I got bangs, but the lady just had to cut them way too short.

Nah nah, not as short as this kid’s, but it’s still so…  not right.  I’m trying as hard as I can to push them off to the side so that they can stay there, but they keep on being frizzy and staying on the center, all short and fat.

Then today I woke up feeling like a hammer got smashed on my right ankle—I can’t walk whatsover.

And what’s worse—I keep trying to watch Gossip Girl online, but the stupid site I always go to has this ad thing I have to complete now for the weekends…  so no Gossip Girl for me.

I did watch the recent Doctor Who, though…  {The Lodger}.  Which was brilliant!  Augh, imagine, though, if it were David Tennant in that episode…

We are making pizza today…  homemade pizza…  as in…  making the dough and sauce and all that…

This post is starting to read like it's straight out of my diary and I think that's my cue to end it there.

Whiny Angsty Rant #001

* I got made fun of for being to nice today.  More like mimicked.

* My hair did not want to cooperate today.  I tried to straighten it out, but it was still poofy.  Had to resolve with putting it up in a bun.  Again.  For the fifth time.

* I tried to tell a friend she talks about her crush all the time and not letting me speak, but as I was about to do so, she wrote me a note asking me if I thought her crush looked okay today.

* I got stuck grading papers for three hours, while everyone else had free time.  All because my teacher for that period was out sick, and since we didn’t have permission (technically) to be out, the entire Yearbook Comittee (that’s the class) had to stay inside the computer lab.  Doing nothing.  Except me and another girl.  We got the lovely task of grading papers.

* I’m going through a hard time right now and my best friend won’t answer his phone.  So I have to text my sister.  She won’t answer.  I have to go to measures like text other people I know, whom don’t reply either.  I text my mom.  She gets the text.

* I want to go to BORDER’s.  I can’t go to BORDER’s without a ride.

* Blockbuster is closing its doors. Stupid Redbox that doesn’t even have my favorite movies.
